Learning Centre
Saturday June 3 - Tuesday June 6, 2006
Back to Khanh Hoa, Xuan Thu village for the opening of the Nature Village Learning Centre on Monday.
A more relaxed time at the village, we spent time organising photos, preparing the packs to give to the people attending the launch, and generally giving support to getting the Learning Centre looking good for the opening.
The opening itself went really well – and the t-shirts and hats, posters and brochures from CCC were a huge hit with the local people – especially the kids!
The Learning Centre is an open air structure (cement floor with a shed roof) located in the front yard of one of the local fisherman, Mr Minh. It has been set up so members of the core management group of the Trao Reef marine reserve can meet regularly. It is also set up as a place that tourists will be able to visit before going out to Trao Reef itself.
The launch was very successful, attracting a number of passers-by stopping to see what was happening. There were also lots of local children hanging out as well – many of who were Mr Minh’s family and their friends. Some I remembered from our last visit.
On Monday afternoon it was back to Nha Trang for the evening. I went and organised a change of flight to Danang and then went for a swim in the afternoon, meeting everyone back at the hotel for dinner later on. Spent a quiet night in organising all my photos and getting excited about my impending visit to Hue to see Ali.
