Another going away...

Thursday June 15, 2006

Maz's going away tonight. What a loss! Yet another awesome volunteer says goodbye. Maz is a friend of Tiffany's and I've had many a fun time with her - she is one hilarious gal. Whenever I'm with her I always find myself laughing. It was she, emma b and me that made up a Hanoi version of "Scarbrough Fair" at the Aussie "Big Day Out" event when we decided we were a demented version of the Spice Girls. :)

Met Maz and some crew at Bia Hoi and then it was to Little Hanoi for dinner before a few drinks at Dragon Fly and then onto Karaoke. We were all rockstars tonight. It was so hilarious - a room of all of us just going crazy on the mic, rippin the mic, killing the mic - it was a fight to get some air time to jam :)

It was ruou (prononced "zeo" - vietnamese rice wine) all round. I recall passionate renditions of "Like a Virgin", "Sweet Child of Mine", "Final Countdown" - but best of all was when there was only a few of us left behind and we were all singing "We are the World" - it was so heartfelt - hands outstretched then pulling them heartwards. Classic stuff.

Late night and big hugs for Maz all round. She'll be sorely missed. She's off on an train adventure across Russia before heading to Europe. Hoping she will be passing back through Hanoi sometime late this year or next.
