Phil's birthday

Friday 8th September, 2006

Boy how time flies. Can't believe it is already September and I'm officially at the half way mark of my assignment in Vietnam. Six months down, another six to go!

Today is Phil's birthday, so celebrations all round. It was some present shopping before settling down to watch Clerks II. Phil went out for dinner with Vic - so Dan, Tiffany and I had some time to kill. Clerks II was gold. So many funny moments, so many strange moments, but everything and more you'd expect. Was a good start to the evening.

We then all went for drinks at a cool memorabilia bar near a water park about 20 minutes drive from our place. The drive was, well... LOUD. It was fully pumped commercial techno all the way. We couldn't speak! But the driver loved it. I think he thought we did too! He was cool though, so we didn't spoil his fun. Give me some funk and hip hop any ole day though, and he could havepumped it as loud as he wanted.

They had all this gear everywhere, including, of course, lots of war collectors' items. We played pool and sunk some tequila before heading to Le Pub to catch up with our man in Hanoi, Steve (aka Tiffany's man in Hanoi) and then onto Solace, where the Pirate was again! Seeing him everywhere! He danced with us on the dance floorwhile chewing on his cigar... very tough.
